Structural characteristics of timber

This module is a teaching aid for tutors delivering courses on the use and design of timber in engineering and architecture. There are also related materials such as case studies and information sheets referenced alongside each module, which will assist both students and lecturers.

The module provides an introduction to timber species and strength properties, and factors that can affect the structural performace of timber. Engineered timber products and the performance of timber in fire are also explored.

This module is designed to support engineering and architecture lecturers.
